The 6 Days War
- 1967 Nasser expels the U.N. Peacekeeping force from the canal zone
- Egyptians close the straits to the Israelis and mass troops on the border
- Israelis with the help of intelligence know of the attack and follow through with first-strike policy
- destroy and Egyptian airforce, take Sinai peninsula, Golan Heights, and West Bank (whole war lasts days)
- USA needs to step in to halt attack in fear of angering the other Arab nations
Outcomes: Land for Peace Policy
Quote: "We shall not enter Palestine with its soil covered in sand, we shall enter it with its soil saturated in blood" - President of Egypt, Gamal Abdel Nasser
|
Summary: Nassar kicked the peace keeping force out, then the Egyptians close the strait. The Israelis destroy the Egyptian air force and therefore they know longer had any way to fight a war. The USA did step in to make sure the Arab nation would not be angry.

Question: What would have happened to Egypt if the US did not step in?
