Woodrow Wilson believed that collective security would prevent another war because if every country agreed to collective security they are therefore believing it world peace. If each country agrees is world peace then everyone has the same motives and would not want another war. The league of Nations was created so the world would stay at peace and make decisions as a whole. In addition, there was hope that there would not be another war. The league of Nations was automatically doomed from the start. They were because neither Germany, USA, or Russia was a part of it. Although Woodrow Wilson, whom is democrat, came up with the League of Nations, the congress in the United States, whom is republican, could not come to agreement with it. The reason the US did not want to get involved was because they felt like engaging in world affair was not worthy.
In what ways did Woodrow Wilson think that collective security might prevent another world war, and why was the League of Nations doomed from its creation?
What were the motives of the "Big Three" at the Paris Peace Conference and why were there originally a "Big 4"?
Originally there was the "Big Four" which were made up of France, USA, Britain and Italy however after the war Italy backed out of the group. Prime Minister Vittorio Orlando of Italy separated from the alliance because they were back and fourth between both (alliances) between the war. In the end they decided to leave USA, France and Britain.
The "Big Three" were then made up of France with George Clemenceau, USA with Woodrow Wilson, and Britain with David Lloyd George. Each country had a motive. France wanted to ruin Germany, USA wanted to punish Germany however Britain also wanted to punish Germany but more lightly then the US because they wanted to maintain trade links with Germany at the same time.
